ABOUT THE POET

Shirley Pourbaba is a poet guided by a simple yet enduring belief: that love is the highest expression of human consciousness and that nature is our greatest teacher. Through poetry, art, music, and philosophy, she explores the invisible threads that unite humanity with the natural world, inviting readers to discover beauty, meaning, and the sacred within everyday life.

Born in Iran and raised in New York after the 1979 Revolution, Shirley’s creative journey was deeply shaped by her parents. Her mother instilled in her a lifelong reverence for nature, often reminding her, “One who is absent to nature is deprived of nurture.” These words became a quiet compass in her life. Her father’s work introduced her to the timeless beauty of Persian art and antiquities, inspiring a deep appreciation for symbolism, mythology, and cultural heritage.

As a child, Shirley wandered through forests, gardens, and open skies with boundless curiosity, believing that every tree, river, flower, and changing season held a lesson waiting to be discovered. She delighted in rhyming words and filling notebooks with poems, unaware that these early moments were shaping her lifelong path.

Today, Shirley is the founder of Cosmo Funnel, a global platform dedicated to celebrating poets, artists, and creative voices. Whether writing poetry, painting, composing music, or creating visual art, she is guided by the belief that nothing in life is random. Beneath what appears to be chaos lies a hidden harmony, and within every challenge exists the potential for transformation.

Her work draws inspiration from nature, mythology, philosophy, and spirituality, weaving them into contemporary reflections on love, consciousness, and the human experience. Rather than offering definitive answers, her poetry encourages readers to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the quiet wisdom within themselves.

For Shirley, poetry is more than an art form. It is a way of noticing and celebrating the entangled miracles that sustain all that was, all that is, and all that will be. It is a bridge between the visible and the unseen, the finite and the infinite, the human and the Divine. It is an act of remembering that love is not merely an emotion, but a sacred conversation with her Beloved, a quiet recognition of the Divine breathing through every moment.
